TeMika Grooms is an artist, writer, and arts advocate inspired by the power of children’s books to influence change in society. Her work typically features action-filled and expressive characters. Her most recent published works include Save the Crash-test Dummies, an engaging non-fiction book by Jennifer Swanson and Put Your Shoes on and Get Ready! by Senator Raphael G. Warnock.
TeMika is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering. She spent many years designing structures, roadways, and utilities in the southeast. Now she uses her creativity to write and illustrate books for young readers. She values STEAM education and enjoys inspiring the youth with her experiences as an engineer and an artist.
TeMika was selected as a 2021 We Need Diverse Books Illustration Mentee and a member of the 2021 Cohort for the Highlights Foundation and Brown Bookshelf Amplify Black Stories Program.

- Character Design: Learn the basics of Character Design in illustration.
- Group Story Development: An interactive classroom workshop for students to collectively develop a story.
- Using Math to in Illustration: A workshop incorporating basic geometry and perspective for illustration development.
- Create Your Self-Portrait: Learn the basics of drawing a self-portrait.
